The Carthen’s Ridge disaster occurred at Carthen’s Ridge Annex, a sealed xenobiological research and mining pressure-colony on Judice, District 268, Spinward Marches 1337.
Because Judice has a hostile atmosphere profile and effectively no ordinary population, the “colony” can be a contained habitat complex carved into a ridge system. That makes the ventilation-system disaster very believable: once the biotoxin entered the central life-support network, almost everyone connected to that system died, while only isolated labs, emergency shelters, and detached maintenance habs survived.
